On Tuesday, owner of the Holiday Club, Peter Malek made a HUGE mistake. He posted his private opinions before considering that they would kill his business. On Tuesday morning (probably still drunk from the night before) Malek posted the following meme:
He defended it by stating in his post as he answered angry commenters that his parents, who are European, came to the US legally and so should everyone else.
What Malek fails to remember is that although his parents came here legally, his grandparents lived through World War II when the Nazis took over Europe all the way through France.
It would be impossible to state that whether his own distant relatives might have also sought asylum or suffered under Nazi regimes.
How quick we are to forget or ignore history.
Malek must be self destructing. It’s the only thing I can come up with. His page is now closed to commenting and he is…… fucked. Malek is and was very well known amongst Chicago’s “scenesters”…..most of whom are quite liberal and not very forgiving to bigotry. Chicago has a tight music and restaurant scene.
